I love getting all dressed up for Christmas day – it makes the whole day feel even more special, and is a fantastic way to get in the festive spirit!
I almost always opt for a velvet dress (and to be honest, I probably will this year too!), they just seem to be the perfect combo of festive and elegant. That being said, I also wanted to challenge myself to creating some slightly more cheerful and festive outfits for the holiday season!
Other than two pieces, I actually styled all three of these outfits with old pieces from my wardrobe – some going back almost 6 years!
Now more than ever I think it’s important to restyle things from our wardrobe rather than buying new, so hopefully this post will give you some inspiration to do the same this Christmas!
I always want to call this outfit ‘The Rachel’ because of the white jumper and tartan skirt combo, and it’s one of my favourite outfits to wear during the winter! I think tartan is such a festive pattern, and there’s something about a white jumper (especially a turtleneck or roll neck) that seems so perfectly Christmassy.
The skirt is an old one from Zara, I think it goes back about 2 years, and the jumper is one I got last Christmas, but both are such wardrobe staples that I’m sure you’ll have something similar to create this look yourself!
Party, but make it casual
Nothing is more festive to me than a white fluffy knit – it gives me major Mrs Claus vibes. Paired with a glitzy burgundy mini skirt and you have the ultimate casual Christmas party outfit.
There’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable on Christmas day, especially after a huge Christmas dinner and too much wine and cheese, but I still want to look a little glamorous, so this outfit is the perfect compromise – comfy and chic!
This skirt is a really old one from Abercrombie from about 6 Christmases ago, but who doesn’t have a slightly sparkly mini skirt in their closet? The jumper, on the other hand, is a recent purchase from Topshop and is still available (and in a variety of colours!).
Not-So-Ugly Christmas Sweater
I’m a real sucker for a Christmas jumper – it’s kind of a tradition in our house to wear one every Christmas Eve, and I just love how classically festive this one is. Bright red? Check. Glitter? Check? Robins and holly? Check. Giant 80s style sleeves?? Double check.
Since this jumper is such a statement piece, I figured I’d pair it with a simple black mini skirt to create a festive chic look. This is probably the easiest look to recreate, you almost definitely have similar pieces in your wardrobe.
The skirt is, like all my skirts, super old and from my sixth form days, but the Next jumper is new and so so cute!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found some inspiration for this year’s festive outfit! Let me know which one was your favourite, and I’ll see you next time.
