April has definitely flown by, and for about five seconds it even seemed like spring had sprung. The weather seems to have regressed back to cold showers unfortunately, but I’m hoping May will bring some warmth because I literally only own summer clothes.
This month has been kind of a crazy one – I had my heart surgery near the beginning of April and I feel like I’ve spent the rest of the month lying on a bed/sofa trying to rest up. But I’m finally starting to feel a lot better (thanks to everyone who’s sent me well wishes!) and I’ve had a lot of favourites to take my mind off of things.
I managed to amass quite a few favourites at the very beginning of April – so many, in fact, that I couldn’t fit them all into one post and I’ll have to carry them over into next month’s!
This month’s favourites, like most of my monthly favourites, ended up being quite summery – but since the weather should be getting warmer soon I feel like summery products are exactly what we all need, right? Here are my favourites.
TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX WATERPROOF MASCARA
The original Better Than Sex mascara used to be my holy grail, but it recently started smudging on me so I decided to try the waterproof version instead. Let me tell you, this mascara is on another level in comparison to the original. It makes my lashes insanely long, doesn’t get clumpy and keeps them curled all day.
This does have a wetter formula than the original so you need to leave it a little longer to make sure it’s dry and won’t transfer, but once it’s dried it’s going nowhere. Although this is a waterproof mascara, I have absolutely no trouble taking it off at the end of the day with an oil-based cleanser. If you have lashes that never want to stay curled then you should definitely check this out.
BECCA GRADIENT SUNLIT BRONZER IN ‘SUNRISE WAVES’
As an obsessive of both BECCA and bronzers, I couldn’t not pick up this limited edition, super glowy bronzer. I already own the Sunlit Bronzer in ‘Capri Coast’, but this bronzer incorporates three of the original bronzer shades (‘Bali Sands’, ‘Capri Coast’ and ‘Bronzed Bondi’) as well as the highlighter shade ‘Opal’ to create the glowiest bronzer ever.
If you don’t want to be too glowy then you can just pick up the bronzer shades on their own and use the highlighter individually, or you can swirl all four products together to get a J-Lo-level glow. I have a review going up on this on Thursday so I won’t say too much, but this bronzer really is stunning. It feels like the perfect bronzer to use whilst on holiday, so I’ll definitely be taking it travelling with me this year.
TOM FORD EAU DE SOLEIL BLANC
I already have a review up about this perfume, so if you want all of the details then go check that out. This is, without a doubt, the best perfume for summer – it’s zesty and citrus-y but with a tropical warmth of amber and coconut. It lasts for multiple days on my skin (how insane is that?) and is so intense that you only need a few spritzes – I couldn’t recommend a perfume more.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY LEGENDARY BROWS IN ‘CLEAR’
I’d been wanting to try out this brow gel for a while but I was a little dubious about the size of the wand. After using up my ABH Brow Gel and realising that that wand left me with gel all around my eyebrows as well as on them, I figured it was worth a go.
This has the lasting power of the ABH gel but the tiny brush gives much more precision, so you can really place your brow hairs exactly where you want them. It also doesn’t leave my eyebrows hard or crispy at all but still makes my brows perfectly bushy – I’ll definitely be repurchasing once I’m out!
KEVYN AUCOIN THE ETHEREALIST SKIN ILLUMINATING FOUNDATION
I reviewed this foundation earlier on this month and I possibly love it even more than I did then. This evens out and blurs my skin without masking it, and leaves it with a soft, satin glow. It also contains hyaluronic acid which helps to plump and moisturise my dry skin which is such a bonus.
I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best foundation that I’ve ever tried and I’ll probably never buy any other foundation again. If you’re a light-coverage lover like me then you need to try this.
NARS MATTE MULTIPLE IN ‘CAPADOCE’
I definitely prefer cream products over powders because they’re so much faster and easier to use – and this product is an absolute staple in my makeup routine. This is kind of like a brontour product (you know, bronzer and contour in one?) and I just swipe it on my forehead, jawline and hollows of my cheeks to add definition and warmth. This blends out almost instantly and looks great on its own or layered with other products if I want to look more put together – I’m pretty sure it’ll be a must for travelling!
JOUER BLUSH BOUQUET PALETTE IN ‘ADORE’
I reviewed this palette earlier on this month so I won’t go into too much detail here, but these are definitely the best blushes for spring/summer. I love that the palette has one matte and one satin finish so you can pick depending on your look, or swirl them together for the perfect sheen.
This palette contains two peachy-nudes, one which is a little more warm-toned and the other which is cooler-toned, so you can really match them to the makeup you’re wearing. These blushes are very pigmented so you only need a little, but they’re super easy to blend and look so pretty on the cheeks.
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER IN ‘CAFE CON LECHE’
I got very excited earlier on this month when I discovered that NARS had launched new shades of their Radiant Creamy Concealer. If you don’t know, this is my favourite concealer of all time, but I’ve always had to mix a couple of shades to get my exact match. Luckily, my prayers have finally been answered and NARS have released a yellow-toned light shade in the form of ‘Cafe Con Leche’, which is my perfect match.
I’m so glad NARS have released more shades to become even more inclusive for a variety of skin tones – something we definitely need to see more of in the makeup world.
AVEENO DAILY MOISTURISING LOTION
My final favourite product (damn, there’ve been kind of a lot right?!) is this body moisturiser from Aveeno. As you’ll know if you’ve read my blog in the past, I suffer from extremely dry and sensitive skin and no moisturiser has really been able to help with that – except this. I’ve only been using this for the past couple of weeks but I’ve already noticed such a difference. My skin looks so much more radiant and hydrated, and my skin doesn’t get as irritated after shaving anymore.
I apply this every evening and the next day my skin feels as if it’s only just been applied – so it definitely lives up to its 24 hour claim! This also doesn’t have much of a scent so it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, I’m so impressed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants baby-soft skin (and who doesn’t?).
So those were my April Favourites! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments what you’ve been loving this month. See you next time,
