After recently receiving a Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette (let me know if you want a review on that!), I’ve become relatively obsessed with her make-up, more specifically the Dolce Vita collection. To continue this obsession, I bought a few items from the Dolce Vita line to see if they met my expectations after the eyeshadow palette (which is incredible by the way!), and it’s safe to say that they did!
During my shopping spree I decided to buy the Dolce Vita Lip Kit, which is £49, and the Full Fat Lashes Mascara which is £22. On the Charlotte Tilbury website at the moment you can get 2 free samples with any purchase, I chose to get the Goddess Skin Clay Mask and the Magic Foundation in Light. I was also given the Magic Eye Cream and the Magic Night Cream (I’m not sure if this was an accident – but it was definitely a happy one!). I wasn’t a big fan of the creams, they were a little bit thick for my sensitive skin, but the foundation was a nice, not too heavy coverage and really long-lasting! I loved the Goddess Skin Clay Mask, I felt like it really brightened up my skin, but I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay £45 for it!
I was very excited to try this mascara, but also a little wary – I’m a huge fan of Benefit’s They’re Real mascara and generally don’t use anything else! I was happy that this mascara wasn’t too high in price compared to my usual mascara – only about £3 more which isn’t too bad! I really like the wand of this mascara, the brush is pretty big which is great for volumizing.
This product promises to be a 5-in-1 mascara, which curls, separates, adds volume, length and drama. It definitely lengthens and separates lashes really well, I was expecting clumps due to the size of the brush but I was pleasantly surprised! I’m not sure it’s quite as good at curling as my favourite They’re Real mascara though – my lashes are pretty heavy and the Full Fat Lashes doesn’t seem to hold the curl as well as I would’ve hoped. I do really like this mascara, but I think I will repurchase They’re Real when I run out of this one, just because I feel it works better for my lashes.
The Dolce Vita Lip Kit is made to pair perfectly with the eyeshadow palette to create a complete look. Charlotte Tilbury had 10 different looks that you can choose from (Vintage Vamp and Golden Goddess, I’m coming for you next!), and I really love the idea of these sets, as it takes all the hassle out of picking different products which all work and complement each other.
The lip kit consists of a lip pencil, lipstick and lip gloss, these can be worn all together for a more dramatic look, or just using the pencil and lipstick to create more of a natural, daytime look. I love the shades of these products, a pretty, warm pink-nude which fits the eyeshadow palette perfectly.
I got the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in the shade Penelope Pink, named after Penelope Cruz. This is a gorgeous, subtle nude colour, which is so pigmented and incredibly smooth and buttery. The packaging of this product is so beautiful, a ridged, rose gold case in a burgundy box, Charlotte Tilbury’s signature colour-scheme. I really love this lipstick, it’s the perfect everyday shade and is so easy to apply. The lipstick on its own is £23, so you are getting a pretty good deal with the lip kit if you’re interested in all 3 products. However, if you’re interested in only the lipstick you can buy it here.
This Lip Lustre Lip Gloss, in the shade Seduction, is surprisingly pigmented! The colour of this is slightly warmer than the lipstick, but pairs beautifully with it for a more glamorous look. The texture is nice and light, not particularly sticky, which I love because nobody wants the “hair stuck to your lips” scenario. I wouldn’t buy this lip gloss on its own, mainly because it’s £16.50 and I don’t tend to wear lip gloss without any lipstick very often, but it’s definitely a worthwhile addition to the lip kit because it gives you a variety of looks. If you are more of a lip gloss fan though, you can buy this here.
This Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Pillowtalk is one of my favourite products in the kit – this really is the perfect lip pencil! The shade is incredible, it’s almost the exact colour of my lips, so I can use it for a variety of lipsticks, and it goes on so smoothly. I sometimes even use it on its own to make my lips just a little bit darker, to achieve that “your lips but better” look. This is now pretty much one of the only lip pencils I use, and I will most definitely be repurchasing this when I run out, but this has so much product I can’t imagine this happening any time soon! If you’re interested in buying this lip pencil on it’s own, buy it for £16 here.
I would definitely recommend buying a Charlotte Tilbury Lip Kit, whether it’s from the Dolce Vita collection or from one of your choosing, because you really do get a lot of products for your money! The mascara I do really like, I just don’t think it’s the perfect mascara for my lashes personally, but I think it would be perfect for someone with slightly less heavy lashes than I have! If you’re interested in any of these products, buy them here.
