February was one of the most hectic months ever – I literally kicked the month off with a car crash and getting my car written off. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t exactly seem to bode well for the rest of the month.
University has also been keeping me crazy busy, with so many deadlines that I’ve barely had time to do anything else. Thankfully February is now over and the majority of my work is beginning to wind down, but I kind of wish summer was here already.
We had a small taste of summer in February – which obviously is terrible because it’s supposed to be winter and definitely not t-shirt weather, climate change is real people – but it did make me completely and utterly desperate for sunshine and warm weather. Alas, we’re back to freezing temperatures and constant rain – how wonderful.
Despite being insanely busy all throughout last month, I did make time to try out some new products. Since that’s what this post is all about (and not my rambling complaints about having too much work to do and being cold all the time), let’s get straight into my February favourites!
ESSIE GEL COUTURE NAIL POLISH IN ‘FAIRY TAILOR’
I’ve been so into sheer nail polishes recently – it’s like my love for natural makeup is now taking over every part of my being. I just really like pale nudes that make your nails look pretty without looking like polish.
This one is a super pretty light pink that I want to describe as a ‘your nails but better’ shade – did I just coin a new phrase, or was that already a thing? I do find this chips quite quickly, but that might be because I’m not using any topcoat (I really need to buy one). It’s not too bad if it does chip though because it’s so sheer it’s hardly noticeable!
What I love most about this polish is that every coat is super even. A lot of sheer polishes need a couple of coats to look even, which then makes the polish more opaque, but this one is even from the first coat!
MILK MAKEUP EYE PIGMENT IN ‘HOTEL LOBBY’
This was one of my stand-out products when I reviewed Milk Makeup, and I haven’t stopped using it since. I’m really into glowy eye makeup, and this is the perfect product for that. It’s super metallic but can be blended out into something a little more sheer, and once it dries down it’s not going anywhere.
I especially love this shade, it’s a gorgeous champagne that really brightens up the eyes. I’m desperate to try the bronze too because I know that will be equally as stunning – if you’re looking for one thing to buy from Milk Makeup then you definitely need to give this a go!
MILK MAKEUP FLEX CONCEALER IN LIGHT
This became my new favourite concealer almost immediately after trying it. It’s practically the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer just without being tested on animals, so basically a win-win.
This concealer is very full coverage without looking thick or cakey, and has the perfect soft matte/satin finish. The thing I love most about this concealer is that it barely creases – I can actually wear this without powder and not look like a complete mess at the end of the day.
If you’re looking for a really good concealer that’s also vegan and cruelty-free, look no further.
DR BOTANICALS HEMP NATURAL SUPER ENZYME MASK
I actually have a post coming soon all about Dr Botanicals products, but I wanted to share a little bit about this one now. This enzyme mask leaves my skin looking brighter and feeling so much smoother – after one use I was already sold.
You definitely want to patch test before using this because it can be quite harsh on sensitive skin, but I didn’t have any problems other than some slight redness immediately after using. I’ll have a full review up soon, but this is such an amazing product made with super incredible ingredients!
BONDI SANDS 1 HOUR EXPRESS
I tried this out and reviewed it just a couple of weeks ago and it’s already become my new go-to tan. Not only does it smell amazing (I love anything coconut-scented), but it also gave me an even, golden tan that lasted a whole week before it even began to fade.
The colour of this is so amazing for only an hour of development time, and it looks incredibly natural without leaning too orange or grey like a lot of other tans I’ve tried
Their tanning mitt is also awesome, it applies the tan so evenly and feels like it will last a decent amount of time. If you’re looking for a super high quality tan that’s takes no time at all, then definitely try this one!
So those are my favourite products from last month! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments what you loved throughout February. See you next time,
