I’M LAUNCHING PRESETS! (What they look like, before/afters and how to download)

As you can probably tell by the title, I’m finally launching presets! I have been wanting to do this for years now, and there’s nothing like a pandemic to give you that final push into actually starting something.

You guys know I love photography, and I’ve been carefully crafting presets for my own use for a couple of years now. I have about ten which I generally lean towards for the majority of my photos, and now you’ll be able to use them too!

To give you an idea of what these presets look like, where they’ll be available and how to use them, I figured I’d compile all the details into one big post so that it’s something you can always refer back to. So if you’re looking for all the information, just keep reading!

THE BASICS

Before I show you what the presets look like, I’ll give you a quick rundown of the basics. All of my presets are created for Lightroom, and they will be available for both mobile and desktop. I know that not everybody has both, so I wanted to give options. These will be priced at £10 per pack, and you will receive 5 presets in each pack.

For people that like to go between the mobile and desktop apps, don’t fear – there’s a special pack for you too. If you want the presets in both the mobile and desktop edition, I have created packs that combine both. These packs will be priced at the slightly higher £15, but you’re basically getting one pack for half of the price.

I’m currently only selling 10 presets in total (though this may change in the future!) – 5 in the S/S pack and another 5 in the A/W pack. However, if you do want both packs, I will be selling an Ultimate Pack which gives you all 10 presets! This will be £20 for the mobile or desktop packs, and £25 for the combined mobile and desktop pack.

When I asked my Instagram followers whether they would prefer preset packs of 5 or 10, the results were very mixed, so I figured I would give people the best of both worlds!

These presets will be available to buy exclusively from Gumroad, and release on Friday 2nd October.

Now, onto what the presets look like…

THE S/S PACK

So the S/S pack has 5 presets that are my go-to for those warmer weather seasons – we’re talking bright, warm and golden. All five of these presets are colour edits, and are super easy to use. You may need to make a few adjustments after the preset has been applied to create the best edit for your photo (as with all presets), but these will give you a great base to start with.

The S/S Pack includes:

SUNNY DAYS – Super golden preset with turquoise and red focuses, perfect for sunlit images.

BACKLIT DREAMS –  Made for backlit photos to bring back detail and focus to the subject whilst keeping the golden halo of light, a dream for golden hour images.

THE A/W PACK

The A/W pack is probably my favourite, all of the presets are super moody, low saturation and just absolutely perfect for autumn and winter. This pack also includes one black and white preset, as well as four colour options, so it has a bit more of an artsy feel.

The A/W Pack includes:

MOODY FALL – Moody and desaturated made to bring out red tones. The most perfect moody edit for autumn!

AUBURN – My go-to preset. Slightly golden with a low saturation and soft shadows to create a filmy feel – works with just about every image!

FOODIE – Perfect for lowlight food snaps, heightened orange and turquoise to make every meal look even better.

The Ultimate Pack brings all 10 presets from the S/S and A/W packs into one, well, ultimate pack. If you’ve loved every one of the presets you’ve seen, then this is the pack for you! You can choose just to have the mobile or desktop options, or go big and get every. single. preset. available.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD/USE MOBILE PRESETS

After purchasing one of the mobile packs you will receive five/ten DNG files. Download these files to your phone. Open the Lightroom Mobile app and create an album labelled ‘The Auburn Agenda Presets’ by heading to the main Library page and selecting the plus symbol to the right of ‘Albums’.

Import the DNG files to this album by selecting the button with the image and plus sign in the lower left-hand corner. You can import the files from either your camera roll or your files, depending on where you choose to save them. Choose the DNG files you wish to import. Starting with the first DNG image, click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and select ‘Create Preset’ from the dropdown menu, then name your preset.

Repeat these steps for the remaining DNG images.

To use your presets, select the image you would like to edit. Scroll through the edit options on the bottom of the screen and select ‘Presets’. Click through your new presets until you decide on the one which has the best fit. Select that preset, press the tick in the bottom left-hand corner, and the new edit will be automatically saved to your Lightroom Cloud.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD/USE DESKTOP PRESETS

HOW TO DOWNLOAD/USE MOBILE AND DESKTOP PRESET PACKS

After purchasing you will receive two/four zip files, each labelled with ‘Mobile’ and ‘Desktop’ labels. Download these files to your laptop/computer (you will still be able to use your mobile presets as normal, but the zip files will be easier to download on a computer/laptop than a phone), then open them to receive four folders containing five DNG files each (20 total).

Open the Lightroom Desktop app and create an album labelled ‘The Auburn Agenda Presets’. Import the DNG files to this album. Starting with the first DNG image, select presets and then click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner. From there, select ‘Create Preset’ from the dropdown menu. Name your preset, making sure to specify ‘Mobile’ or ‘Desktop’ in the preset name.

Repeat these steps for the remaining DNG images.

To use your presets on desktop, select the image you would like to edit. Click the ‘Presets’ button, and click through your new presets until you decide on the one which has the best fit. Select that preset, and the new edit will be automatically saved to your Lightroom Cloud.

To use your presets on mobile, select the image you would like to edit. Scroll through the edit options on the bottom of the screen and select ‘Presets’. Click through your new presets until you decide on the one which has the best fit. Select that preset, press the tick in the bottom left-hand corner, and the new edit will be automatically saved to your Lightroom Cloud.

And that’s pretty much everything you need to know! If you still have any questions then feel free to ask me in the comments or message me over on my Instagram (@theauburnagenda).

If you would like to sample the presets, send me over your image via Instagram DMs and I will be happy to edit it for you to give you an idea of how the presets can work for you!

Make sure to shop my presets when they release on 2nd October, and use the hashtag #theauburnagendapresets on Instagram so that I can see and share your edits!

See you next time,

A x
