I was so unbelievably excited about the Kat Von D launch at Debenhams this month, and so I couldn’t help but treat myself to a few of her famous liquid lipsticks. I’ve heard so many great things about these lipsticks, especially one of the most popular shades ‘Lolita’, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of my own and try them out! This product retails for £16, which I actually think is pretty reasonable for a brand like Kat Von D. I bought three shades, ‘Double Dare’, ‘Lolita’ and ‘Nosferatu’.
I really love the packaging of these lipsticks; the intricate pattern and the black and silver colour scheme is totally stunning. Although I love how slim the product is, the length of the wand does make it a little more difficult to be super precise with application, however the doe-foot applicator does make this a little easier.
My favourite shade from the ones I’ve purchased is definitely ‘Double Dare’, because I find that the formula on this shade is way better than the darker colours. Although all the shades are totally stunning, ‘Lolita’ and ‘Nosferatu’ are a little patchy on me, and I really have to layer the lipstick in order to create a more opaque finish. With ‘Nosferatu’ especially, when I layered it to get a more even coat, it started to flake off throughout the day and move and bunch up on my lips, which definitely wasn’t a good look! Next time I use this shade, I’ll try filling in my lips with a red liner, which hopefully should prevent patchiness so I won’t have to layer the lipstick. However, ‘Double Dare’ didn’t flake or move on me at all, so I think it might just be the darker shades that have this problem. The lipsticks did stay on for quite a long time, but they weren’t totally smudge proof and usually smeared whenever I ate.
Although I really love the shades Kat Von D has to offer with these liquid lipsticks, they definitely don’t live up to their name because these babies are so not everlasting. I would say for the price the lighter shades are pretty good value for money, but there are definitely better liquid lipsticks on the market with an all-round greater formula. I probably wouldn’t purchase any of the other darker shades in the future, however I might try out some of the lighter shades to see if that formula is any better.
I hope you enjoyed that review! Let me know in the comments what you think of these liquid lipsticks and if you’ve had any of the same issues as me. I’d also love to know what some of your favourite lipsticks are! See you next time!
