Look Incredible Box May 2017 REVIEW

After last month’s incredible box (pardon the pun), I had high hopes that May’s box would be just as awesome. Unfortunately, I’m actually pretty disappointed by this month’s box as most of the items are pretty unusable for me. The brands included in this box are really great, but the shades I was sent just don’t work for my skin tone which totally sucks. However, this might be a really great box for some people!

If you haven’t heard of Look Incredible before, they are a monthly beauty box subscription service which have by far the best boxes I’ve ever tried, and actually offer two different types of boxes. The standard box, which I get, is £25 a month including shipping, but they also have the deluxe box which is £35 a month including shipping and offers slightly more expensive brands, however both boxes give five full-sized products every month. This month’s box had a total of £84 worth of beauty products, here’s what I got!

ST TROPEZ GRADUAL TAN PLUS LOTION – £16

This is definitely my favourite product in the box by far. I love fake tanning, and St Tropez is one of my favourite fake tan brands so I know I’ll get a lot of use out of this! I’ve never tried this Gradual Tan Plus, but I’m really excited to test it out as it promises to firm, tone, tan and moisturise. This product came at a perfect time too as the weather is finally getting nicer; I’m sure I’ll be using this all throughout summer!

NAILS INC NAIL POLISH IN ‘PRINCE’S SQUARE’ – £15

Nails Inc do my absolutely favourite nail varnishes, so you can imagine how excited I was to receive this! Although the colour is a little more pink than I would usually go for, I think it would look really nice on my toes during summer.

LORD & BERRY MAGIC BROW IN ‘#1704 WONDERFUL’ – £14

I personally really hate when beauty boxes include brow pencils because they never match the shade of my brows, and this pencil is no different. It’s a really ashy, cool-toned brow pencil that I definitely can’t make work at all, and the pencil itself is marbled with a white shade which I don’t really understand. This is definitely something that I’ll need to give away to someone else.

CIATÉ GLOW-TO ILLUMINATING BLUSH IN ‘BABY DOLL’ – £22

I was quite excited when I saw that I’d received a Ciaté product in this month’s box as I’ve never tried their makeup line before, but unfortunately this is a total miss for me. I know they sent out two shades and I got the bright pink one that is way too intense for my skin tone (plus I hate pink blushes) – I think the other shade could have worked better as it looked more peachy but what can you do? Although the formula is nice, the fact that it has a highlighter in the centre makes the blush look way too shimmery for me. I also find the packaging a little childish, and I think I’ll end up giving this to one of my younger cousins because they love pink and they’ll probably like this more than me.

ESTÉE LAUDER PURE COLOR ENVY LIQUID LIP IN ‘NAUGHTY NAÏVE’ – £17

The final product I received is this liquid lipstick from Estée Lauder. Although I was initially excited about this product, I quickly became disappointed. The shade is a really bright, hot pink that looks ridiculous on me, and the formula is actually really patchy. I also found that it doesn’t really dry down so it transfers and smears very easily, overall I think it’s definitely a let down item.

This is actually my last Look Incredible Box (for the foreseeable future anyway) as I’ve been a little on the fence about them for a while. Don’t get me wrong, I think the brands included are amazing and I definitely think it’s the best beauty box on the market in the U.K., but since the price has gone up to £25 (it used to be £18.99 plus shipping) I just feel like I’m wasting my money. Although I have gotten some great products and the occasional great box, more often than not I’ve had a box with one good item and four items I will never use, so it just doesn’t make sense to me to stay subscribed anymore. The main issue for me is that I can’t cater the box to my specific skin tone and skin type, as well as selecting shades that I like best, so I usually end up with products that just don’t work for me. Hopefully in the future I’ll find a box that lets me specify what I like, but for now I’m happy to save my money and buy products I actually want to purchase.

I hope you enjoyed this post, sorry for ending on such a negative note! Let me know in the comments what you thought of this month’s box and if you have any subscription boxes you think I’d like more! See you next time,

A x

It’s so rubbish that these products didn’t work for your skin tone. I’m worried about signing up to a box for the same reason! You can’t go wrong with St Tropez tan though so hopefully this works for you! xxx

It’s really good to read such a balanced, honest review! For £300 a year I would want at least half of the items to be perfect, and this box wasn’t even close. I expected much better from the Estes Lauder lippy! Maybe you could use the £25 to splurge on a beauty treat each month instead?

Thank you so much! I totally agree, and that’s such a brilliant idea!
