My favourite products for a glowy base

I feel like looking glowy to the point of almost being overly shiny is kind of my brand now and I’m pretty proud. I’ve tried many products over the years in an attempt to be as luminous as possible whilst still looking fairly natural, and I think I’ve finally found the perfect ones.

Obviously this base isn’t going to be for everybody – it’s very glowy, very low coverage and probably not the best if you have oily skin. However, I think it’s absolutely perfect for a really natural, dewy look for summer, so if that sounds like your thing then just keep on reading!

I’m currently into mixing two primers for the ultimate glowy base. The two I always opt for are the Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer* and the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter. I love the Dermalogica primer because it has SPF 30, making it great for summer, and it also smoothes out the skin to give you a perfectly even base.

The Dermalogica primer is pretty radiant on its own, but I love adding the BECCA primer for an extra hit of glow. This primer is extremely glowy and helps me to achieve that glass skin look, plus I really find that it makes my makeup last a lot longer.

Honestly this is the least-foundation foundation I’ve ever used, and that’s exactly why I love it. The Glossier Skin Tint is truly that, just a tint, so it helps to even out skin tone but really doesn’t add any coverage whatsoever.

I hate heavy coverage foundations so this is my daily go-to, but I especially love it for summer when I want my skin to feel practically makeup free. It’s super hydrating too, so it gives my skin a beautiful sheen and just makes me look so healthy.

I’ve been avoiding powders for the most part in my current makeup routine, but I make an exception for the BECCA Gradient Sunlit Bronzer. All of the BECCA bronzers are super glowy, but this one takes it to the extreme.

I have the shade ‘Sunrise Waves’ – which I just found out they don’t sell anymore! It basically combines three of their bronzer shades with one of their highlighters, so you can mix all four shades together to get super glowy, bronzed skin.

Since they no longer sell this, you could easily make your own with their Sunlit Bronzers (which are totally amazing) and a more golden pressed highlight by just swirling the two together.

I have a couple of cream blushes that I reach for when I want my skin to look really dewy, but my two favourites at the minute are the Milk Makeup Lip & Cheek Stick in ‘Dusk’ and the BECCA Beach Tint in ‘Grapefruit’.

Cream products are really the secret to achieving dewy skin, and these two add a natural flush of colour whilst keeping a soft sheen. I find that the Beach Tint is a little more radiant, but Milk’s blush lasts a lot longer and is a little more pigmented.

What I love about both of these is that they’re super easy to reapply throughout the day, and they also double as a lip stain!

I’ve tried a lot of highlighters in my time, and whilst I love a powder highlighter as much as the next guy, I’m really into creams/liquids at the minute. I have quite a few favourite liquid highlighters, but the one I’ve been using daily since I bought it is the Glossier Play Niteshine in ‘Platinum Rose’.

It’s a gorgeous rose gold shade that leans more towards gold, and rather than looking glittery it’s completely glass-like. I love the super natural sheen it gives to the skin, and it reflects the light so beautifully – everybody needs this highlighter in their life.

I’ve been using this setting spray for years now and I don’t think I’ll ever change. The GLAMGLOW Glowsetter keeps my makeup looking solid all day long, but it also amps up the glow even more – if that’s possible.

I love this setting spray if I’m using powders too because it just brings the skin back to life, and I also find it super refreshing when the weather is warm.

That’s everything I use for an extremely glowy base! This makeup look has been my everyday go-to for the past couple of months now, so hopefully you guys will find a few new favourite products from this.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments what your current go-to products are. See you next time,

A x
