Rimmel London Insta Collection REVIEW

Instagram and selfies are still a huge deal, and Rimmel have just launched a collection that will seriously help to up your selfie game. Their new Insta Collection is designed to give you that perfect flawless makeup look that you see all the time on the ‘gram. This obviously means a lot of contouring and mattifying, and whilst I’m more of an ‘all-over glow’ kinda girl myself, I was still super excited to test out these products!

Rimmel kindly sent me all of this collection as I’m on their PR list, meaning I get to swatch every shade for you guys! So without further ado, let’s get into the products.

INSTA FIX & GO 2 IN 1 PRIMER & SETTING SPRAY – £6.99

I love that drugstore brands are starting to bring out their own setting sprays and giving customers cheaper options! I’m obsessed with the smell of this, it smells like cucumber-melon and leaves me feeling super refreshed. I have to say though, other than the smell I’m not a huge fan of this. For me the spray is a little too chunky, and you have to spray it quite far away from your face to get an even mist. I don’t think it kept my makeup on as well as some other setting sprays either. Whilst I don’t think that this is a bad product, I just don’t really love it.

INSTA DUO CONTOUR STICK – £6.99

I absolutely love this contour stick. It blends out so easily, it’s really quick and simple to use and it has a gorgeous highlighter on the other end! I do think that the contour shades are a little warm, they feel more like cream bronzers to me, but I think they work really well for summer to give you a more bronzy contour. I also wish they had maybe one more darker shade, as their dark definitely isn’t dark enough to contour some deeper skin tones. That being said, I do really enjoy this product and I’ll definitely be taking it away on holiday later this year.

INSTA FIX & MATTE TRANSLUCENT POWDER – £4.99

I’m honestly really surprised at how much I like this powder. I typically hate pressed powders as they usually end up making me look too matte and cakey, as well as clinging to all of my dry patches. This powder, however, mattifies my skin without making it look cakey or powdery – it’s a miracle! It actually feels really fine milled too, which is pretty rare for a drugstore powder. This does smell a little perfumed, but that scent goes away as soon as you’ve applied it to your face. Overall this is a huge thumbs up from me!

INSTA CONCEAL & CONTOUR PALETTE – £6.49

This is definitely my least favourite product in this collection. The shades seem really odd to me, especially in the light palette! The contour is way too light and warm-toned, the concealer is too pink and the highlight is too dark. I think the shades in the medium and deep palettes are somewhat better, but still aren’t perfect. I also find that these are quite dry creams and are a little difficult to blend out – all in all I’d have to say these are a bit of a fail.

Excuse the fact that this had already been swatched when I took the photo, I thought I’d already taken a picture of it!

INSTA CONCEAL & CORRECT PALETTE – £6.49

I definitely like this palette a lot more than the contour palette! These shades are nicely pigmented and really creamy, making them super easy to blend out. You get a green shade to even out redness, peach for cancelling out dark circles and a purple for brightening, so really everything you need! I think this palette is perfect if you just want to dip your toe into colour correcting, or if you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money on a full colour correcting palette.

L-R: Peach, Green, Purple

So that’s my review of the new Rimmel London Insta Collection! I definitely think my favourites are the contour sticks and the powder, but I personally wouldn’t recommend getting the contour kit at all.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments what product you’d like to try from this collection! See you next time,

A x

I loved your review on this range! It’s a shame some of the consistencies and colours in some of the products weren’t very good. I love the sound of the contour sticks though. I’ll have to check that one out xx

I want to try so many of these new releases, it’s rare to see a duo stick where the highlight is actually shimmery. Does the powder leave a white cast?

I haven’t found that it does, but I only apply a little to be on the safe side!

It’s a shame some of these products didn’t work out! But after seeing the powder on your instagram I did go out and buy one for myself! I’m so excited to use it!
