The Summer Dress Edit

You may have seen on my Twitter (@theauburnagenda) that I want to make my blog more fashion orientated, so I thought that I’d start today with a post all about summer dresses.

I’ve been super into summer dresses recently, they have such a bohemian vibe and are the simplest way to look cute and put-together but stay cool in the summer sun. I typically used to only wear these kind of dresses when I was on holiday, but this year I’m making it an all-summer-long kind of thing and loving it.

Summer dresses are all about being flowy, maybe a little floral, and they’re something that you can just throw on with a pair of sandals or trainers and head out the door.

All three of these dresses are from ASOS because they have an awesome range from a bunch of different brands. I’m not a particularly colourful person and I tend to stick to neutrals and blacks over anything else, but I did branch out with one of these dresses!

BOOHOO MIDI WRAP DRESS – £20

Wrap dresses – actually, wrap anything – are my favourite style of dress to wear. I have a very straight body and my waist and hips are basically non-existent (also known as the ruler body type, if you’re interested), so a wrap dress cinches me in in all the right places and makes me feel like my figure is a lot more defined.

Even though this is black, I feel like this is the perfect dress for summer because of the light, crepe material which gives it a flowing silhouette. Because this is so neutral it pairs with absolutely everything, and it can easily be dressed up or down too with either sandals or heels. It also has a slightly dipped hem at the back and a midi-length, which makes it super unique from all of the short summer dresses that are usually more popular.

ASOS DESIGN PETITE SKATE SUNDRESS – £28

I’m not usually one to wear red, but I just couldn’t pass up on this Hawaiian print! I love how tropical this dress is, and I definitely can’t wait to wear it on my holiday this year.

One of the things I love most about it is the tie front, which makes it feel a lot more like a co-ord and gives it a fun little twist. I also love the button front, it totally adds more of a casual vibe and makes it feel a little less bold.

WEDNESDAY’S GIRL BOHO TEA DRESS – £20

Okay sure, this is another black dress – but it has florals on it this time so that makes it different. This dress is a little tighter around the bodice than the other two, but it flares out more at the bottom and still gives you that soft, bouncy look.

The lace-up front gives a unique twist to this dress, and I love it paired with converse to tone it down and make it a little more casual – especially since it’s pretty short.

So those are the three summer dresses that I’ll probably be wearing all summer. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments which dress is your favourite! See you next time,

A x
