I pretty much switch my skincare up season to season – my skin is pretty fickle and the changing weather really dictates what it needs.
The only things that never really change are my cleansers, exfoliators and toner – for that I’m Dermalogica and Simple all the way. They don’t dry out my skin and never cause any irritation so they are life-long holy grails.
Recently my dry skin has been even worse than usual, so I’ve gone back to some old winter favourites as well as adding a few new additions into the mix!
I always like to document any changes to my skincare routine in case any of my dry/sensitive skin folks are looking for some recommendations, so here’s my updated routine.
I use two different eye creams for day and night, because I want different things, you know? This Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye Serum* is fantastic for morning routines because it contains vitamin C which is amazing for brightening dark circles – something I desperately need at the moment.
It’s also a lightweight gel consistency that I find really cooling, so it’s super useful at depuffing after a late night – overall just an awesome eye serum for the AM!
I need something a little richer in the evening – my eyes are especially eczema-prone so I need something really hydrating to keep that at bay. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue is perfect for this, I’m actually on my second pot (the first lasted me almost an entire year!).
I find that I really don’t need much of this because a little goes a long way, and even though it’s super rich, it’s pretty lightweight so I don’t feel like it’s weighing down my skin. I also have no irritation with this, which is rare for eye creams!
The Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration serum is a relatively new find for me, but is basically everything I’m looking for in a serum. I typically hate buying serums because they’re so expensive for so little product, but this one is really the opposite.
This has a pump mechanism which means you don’t get more than you need, making it last a lot longer. It’s also incredibly hydrating but sinks into the skin almost immediately – I think this might be a year round product for me!
I’ve only just started using the Dermalogica Neck Fit Contour Serum* so I haven’t seen massive results yet, but I do love that there’s finally skincare catered specifically towards the neck.
The neck and hands show the most prominent signs of ageing, so I really want to make sure that I keep mine in check. This lightweight serum absorbs really easily, and I love that it exercises your neck as you apply it! It’s an awesome concept and I can’t wait to see the results.
One of the things I struggle to find is a decent daytime moisturiser – I hate spending a lot of money on them when I’m already spending quite a bit on my night moisturiser, but I also want something good.
Finding the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser felt like stumbling across a goldmine; it’s hydrating, cheap, and there’s a ton of product (125ml, to be exact). I chose the SPF 30 option because I have very few foundations that contain SPF, and I really want to make sure I’m protecting my skin no matter the time of year.
This moisturiser is everything I need, and the added SPF gives it a very subtle summery scent that I just adore. I think this would work well into the spring too without being too heavy, there’s definitely enough product to last at least that long.
I will never not love the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream – it’s thick, rich, and everything my skin needs at this time of year. No other product hydrates my skin like this, it truly is the ultimate moisturiser for dry skin.
I think I’m on my third or fourth tub of this and I still can’t get enough, it’s just so good! Drunk Elephant also have the best and most hygienic packaging, the pump feature means that you never get more than you need and you aren’t contaminating the cream.
The Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is another favourite of mine, I honestly don’t know how many of these I’ve gone through but it’s a constant repurchase for me.
I can add this to any moisturiser and it immediately makes it 10x more hydrating. I love using this in an evening so that I go to bed looking like a glazed doughnut and wake up with the dreamiest soft skin.
So that’s my current skincare! I actually think I’ve found some amazing new staples that will stay in my favourites for a long time – I really love having a few items that I can rotate around seasonally.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know what skincare you’re loving at the moment! See you next time,
